Games that SORT OF meet it: Arkham series (not any SURFACE, but any ledge, pretty close), Assassins Creed Syndicate, Spiderman (again, not any surface, but freedom to swing around is still there).Īm I missing any good ones? I don't really care if it's swinging, pulling you straight to the point or dropping a rope to climb, it's the freedom of exploration that appeals to me.Īttack on Titan / A.O.T. Games that DO meet it: Aura of Worlds, Bionic Commando, Dying Light, The original 2 Thief Games (rope arrows, still counts for me), Apex Legends (Pathfinder has arguably the best in any game, so worth mentioning despite being MP), Terraria. A lot of these are great games, but the grappling hooks kind of suck. Games that do NOT meet it: Far Cry, Sekiro, The 'new' Thief game, Newer Zelda games, Darksiders, Tomb Raider. (Sekiro for example, does not meet this criteria (great game though)). The ONLY criteria in my opinion for a good grappling hook is that it can connect to ANY surface, and not just fixed points in the environment. (I know apex legends has a grappling hook character, and Titanfall 2 and Black Ops 4 also have grappling hooks in them). I realize this has been asked before, but most of the posts I saw were about 2 years old.
